On October 16th this year the Brewers Association (BA), the not-for-profit organization that represents America’s small and independent brewers, launched the #TakeCraftBack campaign aimed at raising enough money to buy the world’s largest beer company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev). In just three short weeks the campaign was able to raise over three and a quarter million dollars towards the initiative, making the percentage achieved of the goal to reach within a week’s worth of long division.
Despite being at such an early stage of the campaign, a recent development — AB InBev reporting a huge dip in sales for flagship brands in Q3 2017 — seems to have given the BA a boost of confidence. They have just release this video, where Take Craft Back spokesperson Andy travels to AB InBev’s U.S. headquarters to make an offer the beer behemoth might have to consider. If there ever was a time to use leverage, it’s probably now. Let’s hope the BA can take the reigns before Globo Beer can buy out another of your favorite craft breweries.
