Wellington Brewery is kicking off the summer beer season with an updated look and recipe tweak for one of their most popular year-round brands. The freshly named Kickin’ Back Session IPA reflects the increased dry hop additions in this updated recipe.
“We decided to increase the dry hop addition significantly and it felt right to start calling this a Session IPA,” explained Wellington Brewmaster Marvin Dyck. “These late addition hops do not increase the bitterness of the beer but rather enhance the spicy citrus and earthy notes of these Ontario grown hops.”
Kickin’ Back Session IPA will continue to be made with 100% Ontario grown hops from Clear Valley Hops in Nottawa, Ontario. In addition to these recipe changes the brewery will feature an all-new can design which builds upon the illustration and typography originally developed by Guelph-based graphic novel artist Nick Craine.
Kickin’ Back Session IPA is available across Ontario at select LCBO and Beer Store locations with these new cans hitting the shelves in the weeks to come. As a special kick off promotion, the brewery will be giving away one free can of Kickin’ Back with the purchase of any 6-pack (or purchase valued at $16 or more) from the brewery or their online store from Friday June 1st to Sunday June 3rd.
