Oskar Blues Brewery will release a very limited amount of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Mocha Ten FIDY Imperial Stout on July 7, (National Chocolate Day) at the Oskar Blues Boulder, Longmont, and Brevard Taproom locations. The O.G. Imperial Stout got a one-way golden ticket to the inside of a barrel, where it went ass-over-elbows into a Cholaca chocolate river and then hotbox’d with Hotbox Roasters’ coldbrew until it manifested as a smooth mocha mutha.
Bourbon Barrel Aged Ten FIDY was massively doused with unsweetened pure liquid cacao made by Cholaca, then dosed with Hotbox Roasters’ cold brew from Mexican coffee beans.
“Ten FIDY Imperial Stout doesn’t know how to use its inside voice in the first place; and on this one, we hooked it up to a Cholaca-and-coffee amplifier and turned the volume up to 11,” said Tim Matthews, Head of Brewing Operations for Oskar Blues.
BA Mocha Ten FIDY will be available in Oskar Blues Boulder, Longmont and Brevard taprooms only. Numbered wristbands will be handed out at 9:30am but a line may begin to form much earlier. Wristbands will allow folks to (reasonably) wander without losing their place in line. Each wristband has a number on it, and yes that number does matter.
Beer will be sold in order according to the number system so Mocha seekers must be present when their number is called. Each person may purchase up to five cases of BA Mocha Ten FIDY. 19.2 oz cans come in 12-count cases. If there are cans left at 3pm (both MST and EST), a “No Limit” rule kicks in and peeps will be able to purchase to their hearts’ content.
At that hour on a Saturday, of course there will be breakfast food available; and the coffee isn’t just in the beer – Hotbox Roasters will be on the scene to satisfy wake-up needs. All sales (draft and cans) will begin at 10am. A limited amount of BA Mocha Ten FIDY will be on draft, 10 ounces at a time.
Crowler and/or Growler fills will not be available. For this event, participating taprooms will accept cash and credit card. Checks will not be accepted. AHA discounts are not applicable at the BA Mocha Ten FIDY release. Good times and rare beer revelry are applicable. Meet us in the Fudge Room, er, the Taproom on July 7 to get yer hands on this beast.
Founded 20 years ago in Lyons, Colorado, Oskar Blues Brewery launched the craft beer-in-a-can apocalypse with their hand-canned, flagship brew Dale’s Pale Ale. Today, Oskar Blues is one of the fastest growing breweries in the country and operates breweries in Colorado, North Carolina and Texas. Oskar Blues produced more than 200,000 barrels in 2016 and Dale’s Pale Ale earned the nation’s top-selling craft can six-pack at U.S supermarkets. The original craft beer canners continue to push innovation with creations like The CROWLER, Hotbox Coffee Roasters, B. Stiff & Sons Old Fashioned Sodas, The Oak Room, Oskar Blues Fooderies, REEB Cycles and the cycling inspired accommodations and event space at REEB Ranch in North Carolina.
