HMS Host and The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery have announced the opening of a new bar at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. With five OMB beers on tap and seating for 14 and plenty of bar space, Captain Jack’s Tavern is located in Concourse E between gates E3 and E4.
Because the Tavern is located in its own alcove, there is room to spread out and enjoy a fresh pint of OMB. The current tap list includes these pours: Copper Altbier (OMB’s flagship), Captain Jack Pilsner, Hornet’s Nest Hefeweizen, Fat Boy Baltic Porter and Seasonal. Right now, this Seasonal tap is Munzler’s Vienna Lager, which honors North Carolina’s first brewer, Martin Munzler, and is a crisp, smooth and satisfying brew. Food will also be available, provided by HMS Host. Expect high-quality quick-bites, like salads and sandwiches. HMS employees will also staff and run the bar.
“OMB is Charlotte Born & Brewed, and OMB brews are not available outside the CLT region,” noted OMB Marketing Manager Jocelyn Ruark. “The airport is a great opportunity to showcase our beer to travelers and to highlight how we contribute to making the Queen City a special place to visit and live. For traveling Charlotteans, at the airport we’re their last taste of home and their first welcome back. That is invaluable to us.”
OMB has been on tap in the airport for six years. You can also find OMB brews in the airport at: 1897 Market, Carolina Beer Co., Uptown Bar & Lounge, A Taste of Carolina, Stock Car Café, Whiskey River, Beaudevin, Bad Daddy’s, Phillips Seafood and Rum Bar.
Founded in 2009 in Charlotte, NC, The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery believes in delivering fresh, local beer and adhering to Germany’s oldest beer purity guideline, known as the “Reinheitsgebot”. Four beers are available year-round and at least 8 others make seasonal and holiday appearances — always delivered in refrigerated trucks to preserve freshness and meet the demands of ultra-premium beer consumers. The Brewery has received numerous regional and international medals in North America and Europe for its brews. OMB is also one of only nine craft breweries included on the Inc. 5000 list, and the only one in North Carolina. OMB was named Best Brewery Tour in the country by the readers of USA Today, and receives many accolades for its multi-acre Munich-inspired Biergarten, which seats over 1,000.
