Another excuse to take your Spring beercation in Asheville.

In addition to several beer releases, Asheville’s Burial Beer Co. has announced the date and time for the 5th annual Sharpen the Blades Saison Fest, which we assume — based on past celebrations — will include pours and collaborations from some of your favorite craft beer brands from all over.

Over 50 New Cities With New Adventures At The Best Beer Spots

Last year, Sharpen the Blades featured over 30 breweries — i.e. Allagash, Creature Comforts, Fonta Flora, J. Wakefield, Other Half, Wooden Robot — all serving their freshest and funkiest farmhouse ales and multiple live acts performing at Burial’s South Slope tap room. This year’s participants have yet to be announced, but we do know that the 2018 event will take place April 28 and that tickets for it go on sale March 28.

Upcoming Releases

Billows Hoppy Kolsch — 4.9% ABV | 25 IBU | March 28

Brewed with Pilsner and Flaked Wheat and fermented with Kolsch ale yeast, this essential beer is dry-hopped with a mild dose of Mandarina Bavaria, Centennial and Amarillo. It is Burial’s smoke signal to all brewers, their brethren in craft, and all who enjoy a light quaffable ale with hearty aroma.

The Graveflower Grisette w/ Oolong Tea — 5.5% ABV | 10 IBU | March 30

This is for the mark that scorns a lifetime of misery and welcomes us to the other side of this existence. This mixed culture grisette was laid to rest in Burial’s puncheons with house microflora before being moved back to steel, with a unique Oolong tea leaf that produces robust earthy and fruit blossom aromas.

Gang of Blades Double India Pale Ale — 8.3% ABV | 65 IBU | March 31

The oldest of trees beckon the widest of blades. But the biggest require the help of a gang of blades, teaming up to provide the deepest array of cuts. This DIPA is born from an arsenal of ingredients. A pilsner base is fortified with NC-malted wheat, while a bevy of hops feed off Burial’s house yeast to present an orange creamsickle of flavor. Expect tangerine, sweet orange peel and mango from this mammoth of aroma.
