Additional floor space, grassy lawn, outdoor pouring station all in the mix.

New Belgium Brewing is set to open its shiny new tasting room expansion and beer garden this Saturday, May 14. The tasting room, also known as New Belgium’s Liquid Center, will garner an additional 1,600 sq. ft. to accommodate increased visitor numbers. The new space will feature 8 additional craft beer tap handles, a stage for musical acts and Belgian themed wall art by local photographer, Darren Mahuron. On the exterior, New Belgium pulled a reverse Joni Mitchell and tore up the parking lot and planted it with grass. Two fire pits have been added to the space, rolle bolle (Belgian shuffleboard) will make its return, and the airstream trailer formerly known as Abbey the Beerstream (which once roamed the country with Tour de Fat) will become an outdoor beer pouring station with four taps.

“We are so looking forward to this,” said Michael Bussmann, New Belgium’s Liquid Center and Viper experience manager. “This is our first real expansion to the tasting room since 2000 and it’s a beautiful space. The front lawn is a great spot for lolling about and we’ve got ample room to roam as you drink beer and get social with your friends, neighbors and interesting folks from around the globe.”

Saturdays’ grand opening festivities will feature a special one off craft beer, Imperial Colorado Peach Wit, made with peaches from Hotchkiss, CO, Big Time regional music from Marti & the Dads and Panther Martin, a free photo booth to commemorate the occasion, and dollar off all draft beers. Any graduate gets a free taster of their choice as well. Three food trucks Tramp About, Corn Doggies and The Goodness will be onsite throughout the day.

New Belgium continues work on a 13,500 sq. ft. office expansion and onsite medical facility slated for completion later this summer. Brewery Tours are booked solid this Saturday. Tours are typically available 11:30 to 4:30 every half hour throughout the week. Guests can reserve space on a tour at
