The Ontario craft beer pioneer aims to keep the creativity flowing.

Fresh off their 30th anniversary year, Great Lakes Brewery has introduced a new line-up of beers called “7 Barrel Series.”

7 Barrel Can Sticker Label

As the Toronto area brewery approached their 30th year in the craft beer business, Peter Bulut, Owner and President of GLB, purchased a birthday present for the brewery in the form of a shiny new copper pilot system and promptly tucked it into a corner of the main brewhouse. The system, consisting of a mash/lauter tun, hot liquor tank, and kettle, sitting upon on a small raised platform, can produce up to 700 litres per batch, or 7 barrels (7bbl).

Throughout the entirety of 2017 Great Lakes created many magical beers on this birthday gift. They welcomed in other Ontario breweries, beer writers, bar and restaurant staff, community associations, and introduced a number of different beers in a number of different styles. It provided their talented brewing team with a bigger outlet to showcase their creativity and allowed them to work with organizations like Newstalk 1010, ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists), Two Islands Weekend, Toronto Rotary Ribfest and many others on collaboration beers.

Beers like Meanwhile…Down in Moxee, Grimace’s Tears, Found Money, What Willis Was Talking About, The Puzzled Huntsman, Grandpa’s Ol’ White Eggnog Stout and so many more.

The 7 Barrel Series of beers gives them greater ability to produce more experimental and unique beers, in larger batches, to supply their own brewery retail store. This provides customers with a variety of options to consider upon each visit to Great Lakes. 7 Barrel Series beers will also be made available to bars, restaurants and pubs throughout Ontario. Their Tank Ten line-up of beers, including their quartet of IPAs, are still available for more widespread distribution throughout the province.
