The NC Beer Month initiative hits its 2nd year.

Foothills Brewing, fresh off their sold-out HopSwap Half Marathon & 5K to kick off NC Beer Month, has announced four North Carolina craft brewery partners for their NC Beer Month HopSwap.

HopSwap is an initiative started in 2016 by Foothills Brewing as a way to support small independent craft brewers in North Carolina. Foothills selects a brewery from each region of the state, then visits those locations and ‘swaps’ beer, with those beers tapped in each respective brewery’s tap rooms. It’s the only time all year Foothills has guest taps in its tasting room.

“There’s a lot of synergy in North Carolina craft beer,” said T.L. Adkisson, Brewmaster at Foothills. “Back when we were a smaller brewery, we benefited from networking with larger operations. We want to pay that forward, finding small independent breweries producing less than 5000 barrels that have similar brewing philosophies to ours.”

Slot Drain invites you to visit them at booth 4009 at the 2017 CBC and BrewExpo America.

Legion Brewing – Charlotte

Four Saints Brewing – Asheboro

Lynnwood Brewing Concern – Raleigh

“Being able to partner with one of North Carolina’s craft brewing pioneers is an honor,” said Joel McClosky, Chief Executive at Four Saints Brewing. “Foothills has set quite an example for younger smaller breweries; their community-driven attitude and spirit is refreshing. Being able to showcase them here in Asheboro, and have Four Saints showcased in Foothills’ tasting room, is a great example of how NC Beer can work together for the greater good.”

Foothills will be using its latest Craft Happiness IPA for the swaps. Called Terrain, it was brewed to bring awareness to the need for upkeep and management of our beautiful North Carolina wilderness areas.

That’s especially poignant for Phil Buchy, owner of Legion Brewing, whose brewery is in the process of adopting a mile of creek in Charlotte.

Phil said, “We embrace any occasion to share a good beer with friends. So when our friends at Foothills asked us to team up to support North Carolina wilderness, we jumped at the chance.”
