Irreverent Scottish brewery, BrewDog, continues to bolster the craft beer revolution with a bar launch in the centre of global cross-roads, Hong Kong. Throwing open its doors to a modern metropolis rich in ancient tradition, BrewDog’s newest venue is set in the heart of Hong Kong’s buzzing hub.
Set in the steep streets of SoHo, a bustling kaleidoscopic overload of boutiques, galleries, restaurants and bars, BrewDog Hong Kong will offer 14 different draft lines plus a selection of international guest brews. BrewDog favourites, which include the flagship Punk IPA, will join locally sourced beers from the likes of artisanal brewers Young Master, Moonzen and Kowloon Bay Brewery topping off the mighty brew menu.
The second BrewDog bar in Asia (following BrewDog Rappongi, located in Tokyo’s epicentre of craft beer cool) officially opens on 4th February at 19 Hollywood Road, Central. The craft cathedral will serve an eclectic food menu, including burgers, French dip sandwiches and other classic soul food, carefully curated by a global team of culinary experts. Heavily inspired by local influences, the menu pairs dishes to the magnificent beers on offer.
BrewDog co-founder, James Watt:
“Hong Kong is an incredibly multicultural, fast-paced assault on the senses. Our latest BrewDog bar will be our second bar in Asia, and we’re so psyched to continue reaching new corners of planet Earth with an unrelenting mix of bold brews. Our beers have had the seal of approval in Hong Kong for more than five years so opening a bar here was an absolute no-brainer. As an international city currently thriving with a craft uprising, we’re more than proud to finally reach a new army of loyal fans and introduce them to some of the best beer Asia has ever tasted.”
Directly opposite one of the city’s most respected monuments, the Central Police Station, BrewDog Hong Kong will feature locally-designed graffiti. A true craft fortress, the site will also be the first bar in Hong Kong to provide likeminded beer buffs with in-house beer schools and tastings.
“Our army of beer punks continues to power the global craft beer takeover. We’ve now acquired well over 35,000 Equity Punks and are super proud to see their continued loyalty result in with yet another opening. 2015 was a phenomenal year for BrewDog, with a fresh round of Equity for Punks, and the launch of new craft beer venues across Finland, London, Scotland and beyond. This year will be no different, we’re switching up the norm, challenging perceptions and laughing in the face of mass-produced beer ‘brands’ whose sales are sinking as fast as their values.”
In the last couple of years, BrewDog has launched craft beer bars in locations as far flung as São Paulo, Rome and Stockholm, as well as UK venues including Soho, Aberdeen, Leeds, and Brighton. 2016 will see the arrival of BrewDog USA brewery in Columbus, a huge milestone for the independent Scottish craft company.
