To date, Ball, the CAN’d Aid Foundation and Oskar Blues Brewery have collaborated to package and distribute 483,200 cans of clean water to victims of flooding and other disasters, including the Flint, Michigan, water crisis.

“At the end of 2015, a flood devastated much of South Carolina and we were able to quickly and efficiently can and distribute water by partnering with Oskar Blues Brewery North Carolina to fill cans donated by Ball Corporation. We realized we were in a unique position to be able to help in the wake of disasters, and we jumped at the opportunity,” said Diana Ralston of CAN’d Aid. “Now, with Ball’s increased support of one million cans, we’re eager to reach this ambitious goal to help as many people as we CAN.”

The expanded and improved relief effort will include a focus on faster deliveries to areas that most need safe drinking water.

“While disasters aren’t predictable, Ball Corporation and CAN’d Aid Foundation aim to provide canned water as quickly as possible,” Ralston added.

Canned water is an ideal option for helping people affected by disasters because aluminum beverage cans are transport-efficient, durable and infinitely recyclable. The canned water will benefit communities across the U.S. in response to crises like floods, hurricanes, fires and more.

“Ball is excited to expand our partnership with the CAN’d Aid Foundation and Oskar Blues Brewery to provide relief to communities when they are most vulnerable,” said Chris Chavez, Director of Global Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Relations at Ball. “By working together, and by outlining our commitment in advance of a disaster, we will be able to get clean drinking water to more people, more quickly.”
