Founders Brewing Co. has just released a trio of spring offerings that highlight their depth of production, with appeal to a range of palates and occasions. PC Pils, Sumatra Mountain Brown and Doom, the latest edition of the Barrel-Aged Series, are all returning to the seasonal line-up, showcasing Founders’ creative take on some classic styles.
PC Pils, an American-hopped pilsner with 5.5% ABV, was first introduced in 2016, and now by popular demand will enjoy a more extended run from April to August 2017. Pleasantly crisp and perfectly clean, PC Pils is Founders’ take on the classic Pilsner style, re-imagined with three flavor-packed American hops: Chinook, Cascade and Centennial. An easy drinker and profoundly crushable, PC Pils is on of three seasonal offerings available in 15-pack cans.
Sumatra Mountain Brown, an imperial brown ale made with Sumatra coffee, first made its debut in last year’s specialty series and returns as a bold addition with a substantial 9% ABV. This full-bodied ale gets its depth from a team of malts including Caramel malt for sweetness, flaked barley for dense foam, a bit of Chocolate malt for its deep color and Aromatic and Munich malts to add even more depth. German and Perle hops balance this malty sweetness by adding a touch of bitterness. The addition of rich Sumatra coffee takes this perfectly balanced brown ale to a decadent level. Founders has a reputation for making some of the best coffee beers on the planet and Sumatra Mountain Brown is proof of that.
Barrel-aged aficionados and IPA lovers alike can look forward to Doom, an imperial IPA aged in bourbon barrels with 12.4% ABV. A huge beer with a big attitude, Doom was originally released in 2013 as part of the Backstage Series of beers, and makes its highly anticipated return as the third release in the brewery’s esteemed Barrel-Aged Series, preceded by and KBS.
PC Pils is available in 6-pack bottles ($9.99) and 15-pack cans ($17.99). Sumatra Mountain Brown will be available in 12oz 4-packs ($11.99). Doom will be available in 12oz 4-packs ($14.99) and 750mL bottles ($11.99).
